My friend Joanne had gone out on a blind date. It was so funny because she met a man that she had gone to school with. He was s different now ten years on. She had hardly recognized him. I worked as a primary school teacher and was dating Leon that I had met via a dating site. It was the Veggie Dates and Animal Lovers Dating Site that had brought him and me together. Joanne was so impressed with how handsome Leon was she joined the dating site as well. on-line dating was such fun that I recommended it to all my single friends.
Leon arranged a dog sitter to care for his old English sheepdog and my two miniature poodles. We lived near each other so it was easy for the dog sitter to care for our pets whilst we were on holiday in South Africa. I posted a discussion of the dating site saying that we had found true love. I really did adore my darling Leon. It was a twelve hour flight from London to Cape Town.
We stayed in a bungalow overlooking the beach in Camp Cove. We could see Lion's Head from our balcony. That afternoon we went for a swim at the sandy beach and then we had a picnic on the rocks. The next day we hired a car and headed out to the colourful botanical gardens. We put a rug on the ground in a flower bed and had a loving cuddle. The following day we went for a drive to Boulder's Beach where we saw cute little penguins. Every night we cuddled up together and made love to one another. On our last day we went on a township tour and it was fascinating to meet the local people. They were poor but happy.
When we arrived back in England it was cold and rainy. It was lovely to get our holiday photos developed. We posted one of the photos on the dating site. I went back to school and showed all my friends our photos. Leon and I continued to spend lots of time together.
One month later I thought I had missed my period. I had been so busy at school that I hadn't thought of it for weeks. Surely it should have come by now. I told my friend Joanne and she said she was worried that I might be pregnant. The next day she bought me a pregnancy test and she gave it to me at lunch time. I put it in my handbag and later took it home. I tested it with early morning wee the following day. It was a nail biting time waiting for the result. I saw the word 'pregnant' and I couldn't believe it. I had been taking precautions. I wondered how Leon would react to the news.
I cried my eyes out when I saw Leon. He cuddled me and asked me what was the matter. He was shocked when I told him I was pregnant. I felt comforted when he said he would stand by me. We went upstairs to his bedroom and made love with such passion. He said he loved me and that he had always wanted to become a dad. He told me he hadn't planned to have a baby but somehow we would manage. Joanne said I should have an abortion the next day when I saw her. But I felt I wanted to keep the innocent little baby growing inside me.
