Grace entered the apartment. She'll have to manage things without Marc. She longed for him, his touch, his lovemaking. But she knew he had gone away for ever.

She had met Marc in the subway. He looked stunning, with grey blue eyes and a lean physique. He had offered her a seat and she had gratefully accepted. Marc was cheerful and gay and Grace lost her heart instantly to him . She had been dating men, but when Marc took her to a nearby coffee shop, it was a new experience. He never let her feel as if they had just met. His energy was contagious. Marc entered into her being, her soul. They met everyday and each day was a new day. Everyday she was reborn, only for him, to live with him, like him, for him. She packed her things out of her one room apartment and moved in with him. They were happy together. Grace wondered what she 'd do without him. She knew she wouldn't be dating men any more.

But the Gods were laughing.

Marc was heavily in debt, thanks to his outrageous way of life style. He had been borrowing money from God knows who-all and the pressure started fading him slowly, like a thief breaking into a house to rob away all the assets. His handsome face was shrivelled. He shunned everybody, even Grace.

Grace wanted to comfort him, to tell that she was always with him. He started returning late in the night so he wouldn't have to face her. She had depended so much on this man, loved him and wanted to live all her life with him.

But one day when she reached home, Marc's back was to her and he was busy doing something.

Counting dollar bills.

After that day, he seemed happier. His lifestyle returned to what was before, but with a change. He lost the charm and love for Grace. She felt like a stranger. What the hell was she doing here, in his house?

She decided to confront him.

" You want to leave, love? Have you been dating men lately?"

"No, Marc. I wouldn't dream of dating men now. But I think we've become strangers now. I am not leaving you for someone else. I'll always love you."

The same day he was arrested by narcotics department on the charges of drug trafficking and smuggling.
